Text: Trained as a lawyer and fluent in French, Italian, Spanish and Latin, he went to Flanders to fight for the English against Spain.
His family were Catholics, and while at war he grew to believe it wasn’t fair to fight against fellow Catholics. Even if they are Spanish.
I reference certain images from scenes at the time. Here’s from a war painting, where the person was carrying three rifles, one musket and two other sorts apparently. I suppose it’s easier than reloading one all the time. I wonder if the horses were deaf.
